Does this download an existing Kick VOD, or record the live stream? ＋

It records the live stream while it is on air, copying the original broadcast to an MP4. That is the reliable way to keep a Kick broadcast: Kick saves past streams as VODs by default, but the streamer can turn VODs off or delete them at any time — which happens a lot with gambling and reaction content. If you record while it is live, you have your own copy regardless of what happens to the VOD.
